Background

ICI Paints had many web sites hosted at numerous locations around the world. Multiple hosting was inefficient for both cost and maintenance. It was decided that sites should be hosted on a single platform at a single location.

The Challenges

The single hosted solution had to be able to scale to host every site for ICI Paints. Content had to be created within a system which could be used by many staff members of ICI Paints and partner agencies throughout the world whether working from the office or at remote locations.

ICI also required that sites should be able to be created quickly by duplicating existing sites, content and functionality. This would allow new countries to create a web presence within days if necessary.

The Solution

Rubicon utilised the power of its dFinity content management system to deploy the solution to ICI Paints. Ultimately, around 25 sites were hosted at the single location using clustering technology.

Rubicon's Professional Services consultants deployed many enhancements to the web sites over the life span of the project. Capabilities such as paint specification, quantity calculation and the award winning MousePainter™ were developed by Rubicon.

Rubicon provided support and training for the ICI Paints teams and agencies throughout the world. This also included knowledge transfer to the ICI technical team at the completion of the contract.

Benefits

ICI Paints achieved a large increase for their web presence which included several awards for the user experience of their sites. This was achieved at a reasonable cost throught the lifespan of the project.

ICI Paints were also able to increase their web presence throughout the world at considerable speed without large initial costs in each country due to the technology and consultancy of Rubicon.
